His best friend Jeremy O’Donoghue shared a series of photos of the pair together along with a heartfelt post.

‘I lost my best mate today and I don’t know what I’m going to do without the stupidest, funniest, most loving, harmless human being I have even known,’ he wrote.

‘We talked for thousands of hours every day over the 9 years we have known each other and that is time I’m going to struggle to fill now.

He lived for his family, and leaves behind 3 kids who he loved to death and his amazing partner Georgie!!!

Another amazing soul taken too soon who can never be replaced by another human!’

A GoFundMe [2]has also been set up to help support his partner in raising their three children.

This man was as Aussie as an Aussie could get! Always had a big grin and a chat and time to talk and listen, giving everyone the time of day,’ Mr Edwards said.

‘Johnny leaves behind three gorgeous children, his little man just weeks old .. and his beautiful partner who now has to piece together a shattered life and dreams that they both once had.

‘Tragic is an understatement, life simply can be so cruel and unfair.’

Another loved one said: ‘You’ve left a massive hole in everyone’s hearts mate!’

Following the crash on Monday, passengers on board the train were evacuated and the windows smashed.

The circumstances around the crash are being investigated.
