Grimsby primary school shines in government North East Lincolnshire performance table

Combined good results in reading, writing and maths put a Grimsby school top of North East Lincolnshire’s performance table. The Department for Education figures, released on Thursday, show 85% of pupils at Great Coates Primary Academy met the expected national levels across the three areas following the summer’s Standard Assessment Tests (SATs). Principal Emma Emson said: “We are exceptionally proud of the journey we’ve undertaken as a team since 2021.

We pride ourselves on giving children the very best life chances to succeed in this ever-changing landscape. “Our pastoral care is fundamental in ensuring children are happy, safe and believe in themselves which in turn ensures they’re able to succeed to reach their full potential. Our children consistently show a fantastic attitude to school and learning which enables them to thrive.”

The school is part of the Harbour Learning Trust, Emma Forrest-Leigh, executive director of engagement and communications said: “They tailor the learner journey for each and every pupil’s own individual needs to ensure that they achieve their maximum potential, enriched by a wealth of events, trips and projects alongside their academic classes.” Ms Forrest-Leigh added that results like these do not come easily and require the full commitment and dedication of staff in all areas of the school pulling together to support the children, underpinned by a supporting and active Trust team. The Trust adds it could not achieve any of this without its extraordinary network of external partners and supporters both locally and nationally.
