Horrific aftermath of 84mph crash police branded ‘like a movie stunt gone wrong’

Dramatic images show the aftermath of a dangerous Coventry driver's 'movie stunt gone wrong', Tadiwanashe Everjoy Matemadombo not only caused considerable damage in a residential street, two female passengers in his car also suffered injuries. Warwickshire[1] Police say that in scenes akin to a movie stunt gone wrong, the now 24-year-old lost control of the black Vauxhall Astra he was driving on A429 at Wellesbourne at the junction with Bradley Walk. The Gun Lane resident hit the middle of a roundabout and was propelled off the ground.

The car passed over a parked car, through a brick built garage, over the garden behind it and into an adjacent residential garden, where the car landed on its side. Officers said the speed of the vehicle has been calculated from CCTV footage to be 84mph in a 40mph area.

Matemadombo was driving with two female passengers in the car after leaving a party in Ettington at around 3.30am on July 4 2021.

Both his passengers suffered serious injuries. When police arrived, they found Matemadombo still in the vehicle. While the front seat passenger managed to get herself out of the car, the rear seat passenger was unconscious and had to be removed from the car by attending police officers.

All three had to be taken to hospital for assessment and treatment. The aftermath of his actions left damage across the street.

The car ended up careering into a garden - after flying over a parked car, crashing through a brick built garage and hitting another garden.

After a police hunt to find him, he was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and at Warwick[3] Crown Court on December 13 he was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment after admitting the charge. He has also been banned from driving for 24 months and ordered to pay a GBP156 victim surcharge.

Tadiwanashe Everjoy Matemadombo not only caused considerable damage in a residential street, two female passengers in his car also suffered injuries.

Speaking after the court case, PC Drew Ballantyne said:"The standard of Mr Matemadombo's driving fell far below that of a reasonable and competent driver - it was dangerous.

He had no consideration for his passengers or the public. "After he left hospital officers were unable to locate Mr Matemadombo for some time. I am pleased that he has now faced the court where he pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

"We hope the two female passengers take some comfort from the sentence today."
