Hudson’s Hope RCMP monthly bulletin: Transport truck driver assaulted while going to bathroom

HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. — The Hudson’s Hope RCMP responded to 26 calls for service between November 18th and December 18th. A total of 29 written violations and warning tickets were issued to drivers for various motor vehicle-related offences between the above dates. Highway and road safety continues to be a focus for the Hudson’s Hope RCMP.

On November 29th, the Hudson’s Hope RCMP received a report of an assault that occurred at the pullout near the Peace River Bridge. The complainant reported that one of their employees, who was driving a transport truck, stopped at the pullout due to Mother Nature calling, and while standing there, an unknown male approached the driver and punched him for unknown reasons. The unknown male then jumped back into an older blue Chevrolet pickup truck and took off.

At this time, the assailant has not been identified. Police file: 2023-385. On December 4th, the Hudson’s Hope RCMP received a report of a trailer theft from a work site along Upper Cache Road.

It was reported that a 2023 black Cana flat-deck trailer bearing BC licence plate: 65133K had been stolen from the site. The file remains open for investigation. Police file: 2023-387.

On December 4th, we lost one of our local residents, “Rod Buster Bob” (Bob Parsons), after his long battle with his medical conditions. Though Bob lived a closed off life to many, to those lucky enough to breach his hard-nosed barriers, he was a great friend. From the Hudson’s Hope RCMP and myself, we send our condolences to all those who lost a great friend on this day.

Rest easy Rod Buster Bob. On December 8th, the Hudson’s Hope RCMP responded to a vehicle fire along Swanson Road. It was reported that a work truck had caught on fire due to what’s believed to be mechanical issues.

T he driver was able to exit the vehicle with no injuries, and crews were on-site to contain and extinguish the fire. On December 10th, the Hudson’s Hope RCMP received a report of a stolen ATV from a property along Beryl Prairie Road.

It was reported that sometime between December 6th and December 10th, someone stole a 2011 Polaris 850 Sportsman ATV from this property. The file remains open for investigation. Police file: 2023-395.

On December 12th, the Hudson’s Hope RCMP wrapped up their 4th annual 12 Days of Christmas Giving gift drive. With the generous donations and support from the local community, residents and the following businesses and organizations, we received a generous amount of donations, toys, and gifts that will bring Christmas joy to multiple local families, seniors, and couples.
