Huntingdon Street closure after fatal crash causing ‘severe’ NCT bus delays
Nottingham City Transport has warned of severe disruption to bus services after a fatal crash closed a major Nottingham city centre road. A man has died after being hit by a vehicle during a police chase on A60 Huntingdon Street, Nottingham city centre, shortly after 3am on Wednesday, December 13.[1][2][3][4] Bus operator NCT has said there are severe delays to most services due to the ongoing closure, which is not expected to be lifted for hours.
In a post on X, a representative added: “The road is expected to be closed for several hours and will affect us for most of today. Please allow extra time for your journeys today and accept our apologies for the extended wait times.” NCT has said there are delays of 30 plus minutes on its Brown, Lilac, Blue, Sky Blue, Lime, Yellow, Purple lines.
There are also delays of 20 plus minutes on Orange, Red 34/C. Get the latest news straight to your phone by joining us on WhatsApp[5] NCT’s Red 50 is currently unable to serve Ice Arena or Pryzm towards the city, as this area is cordoned off.
Lilac 25, 26, 27, Orange 34/C and Red 50 are using Fletcher Gate and George Street due to congestion in Hockley[6] and along Canal Street. The fatal collision which caused the road closure happened during a police[7] pursuit. Nottinghamshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police[8] Conduct as a result.
The pedestrian was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident. The road has been closed in both directions since the crash, with diversions in place.
Road closures in the area are expected to remain in place for some time while police inquiries continue into the incident.
