Isle of Wight police close road after crash into garden wall

SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE PHOTOS The crash happened this morning (Sunday) on Leeson Road, Upper Bonchurch, Ventnor.

The car smashed into a stone wall of a front garden and ended up coming to a stop on the other side of the road. Debris from the collision was left strewn across the road and pavement.

The vehicle, left abandoned, is a complete write-off.

It appears the driver and a passenger made off from the scene, with the front doors left open.

Police have closed the road temporarily while they investigate and have the area cleared.
