It’s been a horror start to the weekend of our roads.. with multiple fatal crashes across the country

A person has died following a two vehicle crash on Elwood Road in Hastings’ Waipatu overnight.

Meanwhile, a person has died after a separate crash on State Highway 2 in Dannevirke, south of Hastings. Another person was airlifted to Wellington Hospital with critical injuries. And…State Highway 6 in Gibbston, near Queenstown, is closed following a serious two-vehicle crash this morning.

Police say the road’s expected to be closed for some time and detours are in place.
