Leicester City handed injury worry ahead of West Brom as Everton update given
Wout Faes is a doubt for Leicester City’s clash with West Brom on Saturday after being substituted with a dead leg. The Belgian defender, a regular in Enzo Maresca’s back-line this season, went down with an injury midway through the first half of City’s 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.[1] He received treatment from City[2] physios but picked himself up and played the remainder of the first half. However, after the interval, Faes[3] did not re-emerge, with James Justin taking his place.
Maresca said after the game that Faes is not too bad, but that he is a doubt for the trip to the Hawthorns on Saturday lunchtime. Full story here[4] .
Wednesday boss makes City claim
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is proud of his players after they held “Premier League team” Leicester City at Hillsborough.
A stoppage-time equaliser from Jeff Hendrick earned the Owls a point against a Leicester team who put in a poor performance[7] on the night. The late goal cancelled out a first-half opener from Abdul Fatawu[8] . Speaking after the match, Rohl explained how his team perfectly executed their game plan against City[9] .
He hailed a “massive” point that they “deserve” and is now looking to get his team climbing up the Championship table. Rohl said: “Our players did so very well today. When you look how we played against the first of the table, how we pressed and how we played football.
Fatawu on Sheffield Wednesday draw
Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu has explained how he and his teammates are feeling after conceding a late equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday. Fatawu[11] had opened the scoring in the first half on Wednesday evening, only for Jeff Hendrick to level things up in the 93rd minute of the match. It was a poor performance[12] from Leicester[13] , and Fatawu revealed his thoughts after the match.
He also spoke about what Enzo Maresca[14] and his team will do to put things right. They have a quick turnaround, with a trip to West Brom next up on Saturday.
Everton risk further deductions
Everton are reportedly at risk of a further point deduction, on top of their 10-point punishment for breaching the Premier League[15] ‘s Profitability and Sustainability rules. Leicester City[16] will be looking on with interest as they consider taking action against the club[17] after they were found guilty of breaking the rules.
Everton finished two points and one position ahead of City in the race for Premier League survival last season, with City possibly claiming compensation following their relegation[18] . The points deduction which came into action on November 17, saw Everton drop into the Premier League relegation zone this season. They are currently five points from safety following a 3-0 loss against Manchester United last weekend.
