Live: A50 shut as air ambulance called to multiple-vehicle smash
An air ambulance has been called out to a multi-vehicle crash on the A50 this evening. The incident has happened on the A50 eastbound, with one eyewitness telling StokeonTrentLive that they had seen an air ambulance on the scene, along with a number of police cars, fire engines and ambulances. Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports that the incident, which happened around 6.30pm, is affecting the A50 eastbound from the A521 (Blythe Bridge Roundabout / Draycott, Blythe Bridge) to the A522 ( Uttoxeter / Upper Tean, Uttoxeter ).
The road is currently closed. Inrix says traffic is slow and there is congestion to the A521 through Blythe Bridge and Draycott in the Moors as traffic diverts. An eyewitness told StokeonTrentLive: “There has been a serious collision on the A50 eastbound just after Blythe Bridge roundabout.
There are numerous police, ambulances, fire and air ambulance at the scene.” Another eye witness said: “Traffic backing up through Tean.” An Inrix spokesperson said: “A50 Eastbound closed, slow traffic due to multi-vehicle accident from A521 (Blythe Bridge Roundabout / Draycott, Blythe Bridge) to A522 (Uttoxeter / Upper Tean, Uttoxeter).
Congestion to the A521 through Blythe Bridge and Draycott in the Moors as traffic diverts. “The road is closed following an accident first reported at around 6.30pm. Affecting traffic between Stoke-on-Trent and Uttoxeter”
