LIVE: Crashes on these Stoke-on-Trent roads spark rush-hour chaos
Motorists are facing a number of delays across the Potteries this rush-hour following collisions on key routes. Meanwhile various roadworks are also sparking queues around North Staffordshire. Due to the number of incidents on our roads this evening we have started a dedicated live blog to try to keep you moving.
Here are some of the roadworks and collisions which have triggered delays:
- The A50 westbound, near Stanley Matthews Way, has been left ‘partially blocked’ due to a crash. This has caused congestion all the way back to the Meir Tunnel with roads around Longton and Trentham also busy as motorists seek alternative routes;
- There has been a crash on Leek Road, in Abbey Hulton, near to Whitehouse Road which is causing delays;
- Drubbery Lane, in Blurton, is ‘partially blocked’ due to a collision at Blurton Road;
- Wooliscroft Road in Bucknall is also partially blocked due to a crash at Malthouse Road;
There are also roadworks causing problems:
- Five-way lights are running on Leek Road in Endon at Clay Lake;
- Temporary lights are on Leek New Road at the Norton Heights turn-off.
We will provide further updates in our dedicated blog below.
17: 10 update The collision on Leek Road in Abbey Hulton and the incident on Drubbery Lane have now both been cleared.
Crash in Milton There has been a collision on Leek New Road in Milton near to the turn-off for Braithwell Drive A50 still ‘partially blocked’
Traffic monitoring system Inrix is still reporting the westbound carriageway of the A50 as being ‘partially blocked’ due to a collision.
We have contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service and they say they have not been called out to the crash.
