Live M25 updates after traffic held due to multi-vehicle crash near Leatherhead

There was queueing traffic on the M25[1] in Surrey[2] this morning (December 9) following a multi-vehicle crash. All traffic was held on the busy motorway because of the collision, which had taken place clockwise near Junction 9 for the A243 and Leatherhead[3]. The crash was first reported shortly before 10am.

Traffic was temporarily held soon after. According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, traffic was released at about 10.20am. However, delays then remained as one lane was still closed and National Highways reported wait times of 40 minutes.

All lanes were then re-opened at around 11am, however some residual delays and congestion persisted for a while longer. Normal traffic conditions eventually resumed shortly after 11.30am. It is not yet known if there have been any injuries.

Surrey Police has been approached for further details.
