Live M3 updates as crash causes eight miles of traffic near Lightwater

Traffic on the M3 is being temporarily held tonight (Wednesday) following an earlier crash. The incident was first reported shortly before 6pm. National Highways had reported two lanes on the westbound carriageway were closed.

However, the traffic was reportedly being held from around 6.30pm. The incident took place between junction 3 for the A322 and junction 4 for the A331. There is congestion of around eight miles.

Traffic monitoring company Inrix said: "Long delays and all traffic being temporarily held due to overturned car on M3 Southbound from J3 A322 (Lightwater / Bagshot) to J4 A331 Blackwater Valley Route ( Camberley ). Congestion to Longcross. Lanes one and two (of four) were closed however cameras show traffic is now being held."
