Live: M5 ‘police incident’ closes motorway in Somerset

A “police incident” has left the M5 closed during the evening rush hour in Somerset. The incident has been reported between junctions 26 (Wellington) and 25 (Taunton). Traffic monitoring website Inrix had earlier reported there were “people on the road” at around 5.45pm.

However, an update from the site now says it is a “police incident”. As a result, traffic on both sides of the road has been stopped. National Highways has confirmed the motorway has been closed due to a “police-led incident”.
