Live updates as M57 closed as driver trapped in lorry after crash

The M57 is closed in one direction as lorry crashes into trees. Merseyside Police were called to the motorway’s northbound carriageway at junction 4, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a lorry had crashed into some trees.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service as well as the North West Ambulance Service are at the scene. The motorway has been closed in one direction while emergency services respond to the incident. Merseyside Police have said they believe the driver of the lorry is still inside the vehicle.
