Bus and motorbike in 'head-on collision' and road is shut

A road in Rhondda Cynon Taf has been shut after a collision between a motorbike and a bus on Monday. South Wales Police said emergency services were at the scene of a "serious incident" in Elwyn Street in Coedely, Tonyrefail, and the road would be closed for some time. There is traffic build-up on the A4119 and motorists have been urged to find alternative routes.

In a statement on social media at 7.41pm, South Wales Police said: "Emergency services are at Elwyn Street, Coedely in Tonyrefail dealing with a serious incident. The road will be closed for some time and there is traffic build up on the A4119. Please use an alternative route, Thank you for your patience."

At around 8pm, the Welsh Ambulance Service control room confirmed to WalesOnline the incident involved a bike and a bus.

A spokesperson said: "We've got confirmation of an incident - an RTC [road traffic collision] was reported [involving] a bike and a bus at 7pm today." The spokesperson added that it was a head-on collision, the incident is still ongoing and it was a motorbike that was involved.
