Flooding shuts three major routes on Christmas Day
Several major A-roads are impassable due to flooding in north, mid and west Wales on Christmas Day. Traffic monitoring service Inrix says the A487 is impassable in both directions due to flooding before Derwenlas in Powys, mid Wales. The A487 is also closed in both directions at Dyfi Bridge in Machynlleth, Powys, due to flooding between A493 and Ffordd Mynydd Griffiths.
The A490 at Fron, Powys, is also closed in both directions due to flooding from Cilcewydd (Fron) to the A458 (Sarn Bryn Caled roundabout, Coed-Y-Dinas). The A458 in Powys was previously impassable in both directions due to flooding from The Oaklands Glamping and Treehouse Turnoff to the B4392, but the road became passable just before 9am. Meanwhile in west wales in Ponterwyd, Ceredigion, the A44 is just passable due to flooding around the A4120 Pontarfynach turnoff.
In Corris Uchaf in Gwynedd the A487 Bethania Terrace is also open but with drivers urged to take caution due to flooding around Bryn Idris.
Inrix reports that the roads have been affected by flooding since Sunday morning and afternoon.
