Lorry spill shuts all lanes on M4 westbound between Newbury and Hungerford Newtown
All lanes are closed on the M4. The M4 westbound between junctions 13 (Newbury) and 14 (Hungerford Newtown) is currently closed due to a collision involving a lorry which has crossed through the central reservation barrier. Then vehicle’s fuel tank ruptured, causing a large diesel spillage.

All three lanes, including the M4 westbound entry slip at junction 13, will be closed all day for emergency resurfacing works.
The works are expected to last until at least 3pm today (Wednesday).
Diverted traffic is advised to follow the hollow square diversion symbol on road signs: exit at J13 and take A34 south; exit at Speen junction and take the A4 westbound (towards Hungerford; at roundabout in Eddington take the second exit on to the A338 Eddington Hill; and remain on the A338 to J14 of M4.
