Lymington: Police pull over 67 vehicles on clamp down
Cars without MOT, bald tyres, drivers not wearing seatbelts and even a van without a working hand brake are amongst some of the vehicles stopped in Lymington high street on December 4. A total of 67 vehicles were stopped by police in Lymington, as well as officers from the DVSA and the New Forest[1] district council’s enforcement team. Two vehicles were seized for not having a valid MOT as well as one of them not having a driving licence, police say.
Meanwhile, seven vehicles were prohibited for being in a “dangerous” condition, according to the police. This included three bald tyres being replaced on site, one van with a broken hand brake and others not having working brake lights, headlights or rear lights. Another seven vehicles were stopped for having insecure loads, one had the wrong number plates on its trailer, five drivers weren’t wearing seatbelts and other tickets were issued for no MOT and no insurance.
Finally, two drivers who were carrying waste didn’t have the correct licences and will have to report back to the council when they have got them.
A spokesperson for Lymington police said: “Thanks also to Forestry England, the National Park Authority, the Totton police team and the Countrywatch team for all their help.”
