M2 closed between junction 3 for Blue Bell Hill and junction 5 for Sittingbourne

The M2 is closed due to a serious crash between two cars. Emergency services were called to the coastbound carriageway between junction 4 for Hempstead and junction 5 for Sittingbourne at around 5.10am

The road has been closed from junction 3 for Blue Bell Hill. National Highways confirmed the road is likely to remain closed for several hours.

A diversion route has been put in place:

– Traffic should leave the M2 eastbound and at the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A229. – Follow the A229 towards Maidstone until the junction with the M20 J6 and join the M20 coastbound. – Continue on the M20 coastbound to J7 and leave the M20.

At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A249 northbound.

– Proceed on the A249 northbound back to the M2 J5 and rejoin the M2 eastbound to continue your journey.
