M2 crash shuts motorway between Sittingbourne and Faversham for six hours

A crash on the M2 shut the road for six hours this morning. Traffic was held following the accident on the coastbound carriageway between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne[1] and Junction 6 for Faversham[2].

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 12.25am, with motorists left at a standstill. The road fully reopened and traffic started to ease at about 6.30am.

It is not known how many vehicles were involved in the crash or if anyone was injured.

Police have been asked for more information.
