M27 delays: This is why traffic was so bad on Monday

Motorists were stuck in queuing traffic on Monday night, December 11, after two cars were involved in a crash near junction 9 eastbound. Tailbacks began to form after a coach broke down[1] on the slip road at junction 11 at around 5.30pm. The two-car crash at 6.45pm made matters worse.

At the height of the incident, two lanes were closed causing delays of around 50 minutes. A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “We were called at 6.41pm yesterday to a report of a two-car collision on the M27 eastbound near junction 9. “Minor injuries were reported.”

It’s unclear as to how the crash happened.
