M4 multi-vehicle crash causes long delays near Port Talbot

A multi-vehicle accident is causing long delays on the M4 near Margam. South Wales Police have described the crash as “serious” and said that six cars were involved. They also have a warning for motorist driving in poor conditions.

A statement from the force said: “We were called at 7:30pm to a road traffic collision involving six cars on the M4 between J38 and J39. There are reports of minor injuries to those involved. Drivers are reminded to drive carefully in these conditions.”

One lane was blocked after the accident between junction 40 Port Talbot and junction 38 Margam.

All lanes re-opened just before 8.10am but traffic monitors showed residual delays throughout the rush hour.

Traffic Wales, which monitors the main roads in Wales, had said that emergency services were on the scene and they worked quickly to move the vehicles involved.
