M42 crash between car and lorry causes ‘serious injuries’
The collision on the M42 in Worcestershire resulted in a man in the car being seriously injured and caused delays on the road network this morning (Friday). A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a HGV on the northbound carriageway of the M42, between junctions 1 and 2, at 4.38am. “One ambulance and two paramedic officers attended the scene.
“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man from the car. “He was treated for serious injuries, not believed to be life-threatening, before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.” The crash involving a car and an HGV has closed the M42 southbound between junctions 2 (Alvechurch) and 1 (Bromsgrove) in Worcestershire.
In addition lane three of the northbound carriageway was closed due to damage to the central reservation barrier.
The incident happened shortly after 4.30am.
