M42 crash live after cyclist hit by lorry before multiple 999 crews descend

A cyclist has been hit by a lorry on the M42. The 'serious' incident happened on the M42 roundabout at junction 10. The collision caused long delays.

Multiple 999 crews were sent to the area. The slip road had to be closed and there were long delays. Live traffic systems showed several miles of traffic on the M42.

It is not clear if anyone has been injured at this stage. Our colleagues at Birmingham Live, who have been reporting on the incident, have contacted West Midlands Ambulance for more information. A spokesperson for National Highways West Midlands said in the wake of the incident on Wednesday evening: "Emergency services are dealing with a serious collision involving a lorry and a cyclist on the M42 J10 (Tamworth) roundabout.

"The southbound exit slip road is closed. There are long delays on approach on both M42 and A5 southbound." This is a live blog.
