M5 crash: Driver hospitalised after colliding into central reservation in Somerset
A driver was rushed to hospital after crashing with the central reservation on the M5. Emergency services were called to the collision near junction 20 on the northbound carriageway at around 8.10am this morning (December 13). The motorway was closed in Somerset[1] following the crash and there were delays of an hour[2] heading towards Bristol.
All lanes have now re-opened. Police have since confirmed that the driver of the vehicle involved was taken to hospital. However, their injuries are not serious.
Avon and Somerset Police[3] said: “We were called shortly before 8:10am this morning to a report that a car had collided with the central reservation near junction 20 of the M5. “The driver of the vehicle has been taken to hospital, although it’s believed their injuries are not serious. The northbound carriageway was closed to allow the car to be moved to the hard shoulder.”
