M5 high-speed police chase ends in motorway pile-up
An M5 high-speed police chase resulted in a multi-vehicle crash this afternoon. Two men have been arrested after an alleged stolen car smashed into a member of the public’s vehicle. Several police vehicles were also damaged during the incident.
Officers say the two men fled the scene but were later caught, reports Devon Live.[1] Devon and Cornwall Police crews were assisted by Avon and Somerset Police[2] to stop the vehicle. Two men, from Bude, aged 21 and 37, have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and theft.

A police spokesperson said: “Devon & Cornwall Police, assisted by Avon & Somerset Police, attempted to stop a vehicle on the M5 earlier today following information that it was stolen and linked to a theft. “The car failed to stop and fled from police, colliding with a member of the publics car before the occupants attempted to flee. A number of police cars which were involved in efforts to safely stop the car were also damaged.
“Two men from Bude, aged 21 and 37, have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and theft. They remain in police custody at this time. “We’re appealing for anyone who was in the area of the M5 southbound and Junction 29 Moor Lane Roundabout, and may have relevant dashcam footage, to please contact 101 or via our website quote log 243 of 28 December.”
