M5 traffic delays live as crash causes rush-hour tailbacks
A rush-hour crash on the M5 motorway has caused long delays today. The collision between two cars meant motorists faced a 40-minute journey time to pass the incident. It happened on the northbound carriageway at junction two for Oldbury[1] and Dudley[2] just after 4pm, with traffic backing up to junction three for Halesowen[3] and Birmingham[4]. West Midlands Ambulance Service[5] said a man and a woman were assessed at the scene.
Traffic data monitor Inrix said: "Long delays due to earlier accident on M5 Northbound after J2 A4123 Wolverhampton Road (Oldbury / Dudley). Congestion to J3 (Halesowen / Birmingham). "The opposite side is congested back to J1 (West Bromwich/ Birmingham) due to the earlier onlookers.
Surrounding routes around Oldbury are congested as traffic seeks an alternative. Travel time is 40 minutes. All lanes have been re-opened."
