M5 traffic live: Multi-vehicle crash brings motorway to standstill in West Country

A three-car crash blocked the M5 heading north through the West Country this morning (Wednesday, December 13). The multi-vehicle collision happened in Somerset and is affecting motorists heading towards Bristol and Gloucestershire. Traffic was reported to be at a standstill between junction 20 for Clevedon and junction 19 for Portishead, but all lanes have since reopened.

Congestion was back to junction 21 for Weston-super-Mare at the peak of the delays with an hour being added on to people’s journeys. Traffic was held from around 8.30am to 9.30am as emergency services dealt with the crash. Delays are expected throughout the morning.
