M6 tragedy as man killed after being struck by car
A pedestrian was tragically killed after he was stuck by a car and a lorry on the M6, police said. Part of the motorway was closed with emergency services at the scene last night. The fatal collision happened on the M6 southbound carriageway near Corley Services.
The Central Motorway Police Group said it was closed between junction 4A near Water Orton and junction 3 near Coventry as it urged people to not stop at the scene and "have empathy' for those involved. Warwickshire Police[1] confirmed the man died at the scene, following the crash involving "several vehicles", at around 5.30pm yesterday, Thursday, December 14. The motorway later reopened at around 1am.
A witness appeal and a dashcam plea has also been made by the force. A Warwickshire Police spokesman told BirminghamLive: "At 5.30pm yesterday evening, police were called to a road traffic collision on the M6 Southbound near Junction 3 (Corley Services). A car collided with a man on the road, leading to the closure of a portion of the M6.
Sadly, the male died at the scene. The M6 Southbound has now reopened. "If anyone saw anything that could help us with our investigation, including any dashcam footage, they can contact us citing incident 255 of 14 December: Online at www.warwickshire.police.uk/report[3].
By phone on 101. Anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 0800 555 111." West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called following a collision between a lorry and a pedestrian.
It sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car to the scene. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
The lorry driver was uninjured in the incident."
