M60: Closures in place due to serious crash with car on its roof

The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed anti-clockwise between J27 Stockport and J24 Denton, due to a serious collision which occurred around 5.45am. A car struck the nearside barrier, overturned, and came to rest on its roof. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue and North West Ambulance Services attended, and the North West Motorway Police Group remain at the scene and will be carrying out collision investigation work.

A spokesperson for North West Motorway Police said: “We have a serious incident on going on M60 between j25 and j24, carriageway is completely closed, and we will be releasing trapped traffic shortly, from Highways – diversion for full closure is solid circle.” Anti-clockwise diverted traffic is advised to follow the solid circle diversion symbol.

  • Exit the M60 anti-clockwise at J27.
  • At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A626 northbound until the B6167 roundabout.
  • At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the B6167 northbound and continue until the A57 roundabout.
  • Turn right and join the A57 eastbound and then continue onward to re-join the M60 at J24.
