Major road near Swindon reopens after three-vehicle crash
Police were at the scene (file photo). (Image: Getty) A major road near Swindon[1] has now reopened following a crash involving three vehicles. The A346 between Swindon and Marlborough was closed following the collision[2] which occurred approximately two miles south of Chiseldon.
Police say that the incident happened shortly after 5.30pm which meant that the road was closed from the petrol station to Port Hill. After several hours of closure, the road reopened at 9.30pm with the police issuing an update thanking motorists for complying and staying away from the area. No more details surrounding the crash are yet known including as to whether anyone was injured in the three-vehicle collision.
A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said at the time of the closure: “The A346 between Swindon and Marlborough is currently closed following a three vehicle collision which occurred approximately two miles south of Chiseldon. “The incident happened shortly after 5.30pm – the road is closed from the petrol station to Port Hill. “Please avoid the area and seek an alternative route while the incident is dealt with.”
Wiltshire Police and the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust have been approached for comment.
