Man accused of DUI in hit-and-run crash that killed Nevada troopers to appear in court
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The man accused of driving under the influence when he struck and killed two Nevada State Police troopers[1] on a Las Vegas freeway made his first court appearance Friday. A hearing master in Las Vegas Justice Court set bail for Jemarcus Williams, 46, at £500,000 as he faces two counts each of DUI resulting in death, reckless driving resulting in death and failure to stop at the scene of a crash involving death. During the hearing, a prosecutor said Williams was leaving the Palms casino and hiding from security before the crash.
Williams initially denied any involvement but eventually confessed, the prosecutor said. An attorney assigned to defend Williams asked for £20,000 bail, saying he had maintained employment and has no failures to appear in his history. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police say Sgt.
Michael Abbate and Trooper Alberto Felix with Nevada State Police were conducting a motorist assist on I-15 near D Street at about 3:23 a.m. Thursday. They had stopped to check on a driver who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.

Police officers conducted a grid search of the area and found the HHR in the area of J Street and Monroe Avenue at about 8 a.m., according to LVMPD. Investigators identified Williams as the driver and arrested him. Justice and municipal court records show Williams has faced a lengthy list of driving infractions, dating as far back as 2000.
He was arrested for DUI back in 2007 and pleaded no contest, according to Las Vegas Municipal Court records. Most recently, he was charged with driving with expired license plates this past May. He pleaded no contest in August.
If he posts bail, Williams would be subject to high-level electronic monitoring and a no-driving order.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec.
