Man arrested and charged in Paisley after police chase
The vehicle was nicked yesterday (Wednesday, December 5) before being spotted in the early hours of this morning in Paisley. Police told how the driver then proceeded to use the vehicle to ram a police car and failed to stop. After being pursued by officers from the Glasgow Road Policing team, its tyres were deflated using a "stinger", a device used by police to puncture the tyres of vehicles during a pursuit.
As a result of this action, the driver and vehicle were then said to be "safely stopped with no further damage or injury." On X, formerly known as Twitter, a spokesperson for Road Policing Scotland, said: "A busy late and night shift for #GlasgowRP from the routine to the extreme. "We've attended RTCs (road traffic collisions), removed uninsured cars from the roads, and in the early hours of this morning, we pursued a stolen car after it rammed a police vehicle."
"Male driver, only occupant, arrested, charged for multiple offences and held for court," the spokesperson added.
Police Scotland would not confirm any further information.
