Man charged with escaping lawful custody and drug offences after Grimsby town centre crash
A 22-year-old man has been charged with class A drug offences and escaping from lawful custody after a crash in Grimsby town centre. The incident involved a car and motorbike, near to the junction of Dudley Street and Bargate, at around 3.55pm on Friday. Humberside Police cordoned off the area and debris was spotted on the road.
The incident closed Bargate in both directions on Friday, causing long traffic queues. Mark Phillips, 22, of Freeman Street, was later arrested and has now been charged. A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: "Mark Phillips, aged 22, of Freeman Street in Grimsby has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled class A drug, escape from lawful custody, criminal damage to property and aggravated vehicle taking.
"He has been remanded into custody to appear at Grimsby Magistrates Court at a later date."
