Man dies in car crash on New Road in Bournemouth

Emergency services were called to New Road, Bournemouth[1] after a BMW crashed with a Skoda Citigo. Roadblocks were put in place near the junction with Avebury Avenue. However, the Skoda driver – a man in his 70s – was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family has been notified, say police. Dorset Police received a report at 10.49am on Saturday 23 December 2023 of a collision involving a Skoda Citigo and a BMW in New Road near to the junction with Avebury Avenue. Bournemouth Echo: Police have appealed for witnesses.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, at around 10.49am, to come forward. Police sergeant Mike Burt, of the traffic[2] unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the loved ones of the man who sadly died in this incident. “An investigation is underway to establish what happened and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“Also, I would like to speak to any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage. “Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.” Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting occurrence number 55230200542.
