Man dies in M6 crash near Coventry
A man has died in a crash on the M6 near Coventry[1]. The southbound carriageway was closed for several hours last night (Thursday) while emergency services were at the scene. It happened near Junction 3 for Corley Services at around 5.30pm.
This morning, Warwickshire[2] Police have confirmed that a man sadly died in the incident. Police said the man who died had been walking on the road and a number of vehicles crashed into him. The road reopened at around 1am in the early hours of this morning[3] (Friday) and diversions were put in place for motorists.
In a statement issued this morning, a Warwickshire Police[5] spokesman said: "At 5:30pm yesterday evening, police were called to a road traffic collision on the M6[6] Southbound near Junction 3 (Corley Services). "Several vehicles collided with a man on the road, leading to the closure of a portion of the M6 leading to the closure of a portion of the M6. Sadly, the male died at the scene.
"The M6 Southbound has now reopened. If anyone saw anything that could help us with our investigation, including any dashcam footage, they can contact us citing incident 255 of 14 December."
