New Hampshire police officers got a surprise when they arrived on the scene of a car crash on Christmas night. The man behind the wheel of the smashed car was wearing a complete Grinch costume. The driver lost control around a curve.
No injuries were reported, police said.[1] The crash occurred in Exeter, New Hampshire when the driver, identified as 31-year-old Jon C. Williamson, became distracted and missed a curve in the road, police said.
His silver Honda CR-V crashed through the lawn of a performance venue known as The Word Barn. The car destroyed the sign, mailbox, and several lights belonging to the business. The Honda suffered significant front-end damage and a broken windshield and rear driver’s side window.
“This was certainly a unique situation. Officers never expected to arrive at the scene to find that an operator was wearing a Grinch suit behind the wheel, but it was Christmas night so not entirely outside the realm of possibility. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt,” police chief Stephan Poulin said.
A post on The Word Barn’s Facebook page[2] claims that the driver of the car had no insurance. They also indicate that this was not the first time that their road sign had been destroyed. However, it is the first time that it has ever been destroyed by the Grinch.
It seems that he is no longer satisfied with simply stealing gifts. The Grinch has taught us many lessons over the years. The Grinch showed us that Christmas is more than just presents under a tree.
And a single act of kindness can change a person’s life.
And now thanks to this crash, the Grinch has reminded us of the dangers of distracted driving.
