Man in his 70s dies following bus crash at Carlisle Railway Station

The bus crashed into Carlisle railway station on the evening of November 30, with the elderly man being transported to hospital where he succumbed to fatal injuries. Subsequently, a man in his 40s, from Cumbria was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless or inconsiderate driving.[1] He has since been released ‘on bail while enquiries continue’, a spokesperson from British Transport Police (BTP) said.

“A man in his 70s has died following a road traffic collision outside Carlisle railway station on Thursday, November 30. “A man in his 40s from Cumbria has been arrested in connection and has been released on bail while enquiries continue. “Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and assist the investigation by contacting BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 464 of 30 November 2023,” they said.

In addition to the man in his 70s being taken to hospital with what ended up fatal injuries, two people were treated at the scene – but were not taken to hospital.
