Man veers off rural Sacramento County roads and is killed in crash, firefighters say

A man was killed Monday night after his van veered off a road on the outskirts of Rancho Murieta, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Firefighters were called to Latrobe and Stonehouse roads about 9:45 p.m., a intersection in rural Sacramento County about 5 miles north of Rancho Murieta, said Battalion Chief Parker Wilbourn, a spokesman for Metro Fire. The man, who has not yet been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office, was the only occupant of the vehicle.

What led to the crash remains under investigation.
