Masked men threaten Swindon cashier with knife before robbing betting shop

An investigation has been launched after two men robbed a betting shop at knifepoint in Swindon. According to Swindon Police, the incident took place at Betfred in West Swindon District Centre at around 4.30pm today (Saturday, December 2). Two men wearing masks reportedly threatened a cashier with a knife in the shop at around 4.30pm.

They then robbed the store and made off with money in a green carrier bag. Swindon Police say local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area while further investigations are carried out. The force is appealing for information from anyone in the area at the time.

In a statement posted to Facebook, Swindon Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Westlea, Swindon this afternoon (02/12). At around 4.30pm two men wearing masks threatened a cashier at Betfred on West Swindon District Centre, with a knife and made off with money in a green carrier bag. “You may see an increased police presence in the area while we investigate what happened.
