Mother and child escape death as car crashes and flips towards them

A mother and her young child have narrowly avoided death after a vehicle careered onto the pavement and flipped on its side just in front of them.

The crash, which took place on Warwick Road in Olton, Solihull, on Saturday afternoon, was captured on CCTV with police confirming that they are now investigating.

In the video released by police, a woman can be seen walking along the pavement next to a zebra crossing pushing her child — believed to be a two-year-old girl — in a pram.

As she walks along a small, grey Peugeot van is seen travelling on the wrong side of the road.
