Mother and son killed in Derbyshire car crash as police hunt driver of black BMW
The crash happened on B5057 Chesterfield Road (Google Maps) Police[1] are trying to trace a BMW[2] driver who fled the scene of a crash that left a mother and son dead. The crash in Derbyshire[3] on Saturday saw a vehicle collide with a Fiat 500[4], on the B5057 Chesterfield[5] Road between Chesterfield and Matlock[6], around 10.20am.
The driver of the Fiat, a 59-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son, who was 22-years-old, was taken by air ambulance to hospital where he later died. A 40-year-old man has been arrested, and remained in police custody on Sunday evening.
“The driver of the vehicle, a black BMW, made off from the scene and remains outstanding,” Derbyshire Police[7] said in a statement. “Officers are carrying out investigations to trace him.” Anyone with information is asked to contact the force, via its website, Facebook, Twitter, or by calling 101, and quoting reference number 23*756758.[8]
