Motorcyclist left with “life-threatening injuries” following southeast valley collision
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A motorcyclist has been hospitalized with “life-threatening injuries” following a collision in the southeast Las Vegas valley on Saturday. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred around 11:40 a.m. at East Flamingo Road and McLeod Drive, involving a motorcycle and a vehicle. Police say evidence at the scene and statements from witnesses indicate a 2001 Yamaha R6 traveled eastbound on East Flamingo Road in the right-turn lane approaching McLeod Drive.
At the same time, a 2019 Nissan Frontier approached McLeod Drive westbound on East Flamingo Road. An investigation determined that the collision occurred when the Nissan conducted a left turn to travel south on McLeod Drive as the Yamaha traveled through the intersection from the right-turn lane. The Yamaha struck the left front of the Nissan and was redirected to the east while ejecting its rider.
The Nissan pulled to the side of the roadway and remained at the collision scene.
Police say the driver showed no signs of impairment.
Arriving emergency medical personnel transported the Yamaha’s rider to Sunrise Hospital’s Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries, where police say he remains in critical condition.
