Motorists and pedestrians urged to avoid Heyhouses Lane in St Annes closed after ‘car crashes into house’

Emergency services were called to a collision on Heyhouses Lane at approximately 2.20am on Saturday (December 23). A car reportedly crashed into a house causing it to burst into flames, according to eyewitness reports. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed four fire engines from St Annes, South Shore, Lytham, and Blackpool attended the scene.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one thermal imaging camera, lighting, and a positive-pressure ventilation unit to extinguish the flames.

“Three casualties were placed in the care of paramedics at the scene,” a spokesman for LFRS said. “Crews were in attendance for two and a half hours.” The road was closed from Blackpool Road North to Singleton Avenue following the crash.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: “There is currently no vehicle or pedestrian access. “Please can we ask you to avoid the area.” Traffic was coping well in the area following the road closure.

Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service have been approached for more information.
