Motorists told ‘avoid area’ as firefighters cut casualty free from wreck

Firefighters used ‘specialist cutting equipment’ to free a casualty from their car following a smash. And during the height of the incident on Sandbach’s Booth Lane motorists were urged to avoid the area. Police, paramedics and fire engines from three stations had been called to the scene at around 8.45pm on December 24.

Officers say the crash involved a white Tesla and a black Vauxhall Astra. A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the driver of the Astra was taken to hospital as a ‘precautionary measure’. Meanwhile Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent crews from Middlewich, Winsford[1] and Crewe[2] to the incident.

A spokesman said: “Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to remove a casualty from a car that had been in collision with another vehicle.

The person was passed to the care of ambulance crews.”
