Motorway closed in one direction after ‘serious collision’

A motorway near Greater Manchester has been closed in one direction following a ‘serious collision’. Emergency services are in attendance with West Yorkshire police at the scene of the crash near Scammonden Bridge resulting in the closure of the M62[1]. The motorway is closed eastbound between Junction 22 at Ripponden and Junction 24 near Huddersfield.

Police are leading a ‘multi-agency response’ to the incident, according to National Highways whose staff are assisting with traffic management at the scene. Due to the nature of the incident there is currently no estimated time for reopening, but according to Traffic England, the incident is expected to clear between 11.15pm and 11.45pm. One driver has reported waiting in ‘standstill traffic’ on the M62 ‘for like an hour’.
