Motorway speeders clocked by speed cameras handed large fines …
The drivers were both snapped by cameras breaking the speed limit on the motorway. The separate cases of both Imran Sultan and Naghma Malik were heard recently before Manchester Magistrates' Court. The former, of Wilson Patten Street in the town centre, was caught speeding on the M60 heading anti-clockwise on August 14.
Between junctions 17 and 15, he was clocked by a camera exceeding the 70mph limit by driving at 97mph. The 49-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of speeding and was ordered to pay a total of GBP500. This is broken down into a fine of GBP293, court costs of GBP90 and a surcharge to fund victim services of GBP117.
In addition, his driving record has been endorsed with five penalty points. In the case of Malik, magistrates heard how the 59-year-old admitted speeding on the M62 westbound. On May 28, she drove between junctions 11 for Birchwood and 12 for the M60 at Eccles Interchange at a speed of 97ph.
Malik, of Dakota Drive in Chapelford, was told she must pay a total of GBP1,166, including a fine of GBP769, court costs of GBP90 and victim surcharge of GBP307.
Her driving record was also endorsed with five penalty points.
