Multi-vehicle crash on M6 near Coventry leaves two injured
Two van drivers were left injured following a multi-vehicle smash on the M6 near Coventry. They were involved in a collision with a car on the M6[1], between junctions 3 and 2, earlier this morning (December 18). Police officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) responded to 999 calls made at just before 7am to report the three vehicle accident.
Medics found two men had been injured, who were the drivers of both of the vans. One of them was more seriously injured than the other and needed hospital treatment.
“The first, a man who was the driver of the first van was assessed and had sustained non life threatening injuries,” the WMAS spokesperson said. “He received treatment at the scene before being conveyed to University Hospital Coventry[3] for further treatment.
“The second, a man who was the driver of the second van was assessed and had sustained minor injuries. He received self care advice before being discharged at the scene. No further patients required treatment.”
The accident was one of two that took place on the M6 in our region this morning. Less than half an hour earlier, medics and police responded to an incident on the opposite side of the motorway, which involved a car and a lorry.[4] Both caused major issues on the motorway, at one point with traffic tailing back towards Corley.
There were also issues on the nearby A444 Bedworth[5] bypass.
