N.J. state police seek driver involved in I-78 road rage shooting

READINGTON TWP., N.J. — New Jersey State Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a pickup truck driver involved in a road rage shooting on Interstate 78 East. According to a Facebook post[1] from state police, the incident occurred around 2:50 p.m. Friday near Mile Marker 23.6.

That’s in Readington Township, Hunterdon County. According to police, the driver of a white Dodge Ram “with dual rear tires and black lettering displaying business and [New Jersey Department of Transportation] numbers on the passenger side” pulled up next to a tractor-trailer. At least one shot was then fired from the passenger side window, which police said struck the engine of the tractor-trailer and caused it to become disabled.

It is not clear if the driver or another person in the car fired the shot.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact New Jersey State Police-Perryville at (908) 730-7042, or email Robert Sanchis ([email protected]) and Detective Dan Sullivan ([email protected]).
