Netflix[2] has axed beloved show Invisible City with its leading man Marco Pigossi sharing an emotional statement following the news.
The series first dropped on the streaming platform in November 2021, telling the story of environmental police officer Eric who uncovers a hidden world of mythological entities from Brazilian folklore.
Character Eric, played by Marco, 34, searches for a connection between his wife’s death and the mysterious appearance of a dead pink river dolphin on a beach in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
A second series was available on Netflix in March this year but bosses have decided to call time on the show.
In an Instagram post which has been translated to English, Brazilian actor Marco wrote: ‘Folha de S.Paulo released numbers and according to Netflix Brazil[3] the first project to appear as one of the most watched in Brazil was Invisible City! What a lovely news!

‘I’m very proud to have been part of such a powerful and Brazilian project. I thank and congratulate everyone who has been a part of it.
‘It was an honour to give life to Erik, I bid farewell to this character with much affection.
Long live our audiovisual!’
Netflix bigwigs recently cancelled five shows[4] due to the effects of seven months of Hollywood strikes.
November 9 marked the end of the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike[5] but its effects, and that of the writers’ strike, continue.
Both strikes lasted four months: the WGA writers’ from May to September[6] and the actors’ from July to November.
Due to the blow these strikes had on Netflix’s finances, the streaming service has decided to cancel Glamorous, Agent Elvis, Farzar, Captain Fall, and Shadow And Bone, with fans mourning the loss of their beloved shows.
Animated series Agent Elvis reimagines King of Rock and Roll Elvis as he trades his jumpsuit for a jetpack when joining a secret spy programme to stop villains from destroying the world.
The series, which was cancelled after one season, boasted a host of celebrities, with Matthew McConaughey voicing Elvis, while Priscilla Presley played herself.

Baz Luhrman, Christina Hendricks and Simon Pegg also had cameo roles in the 10-episode series.
Another animated series was given with the axe after one season, with Captain Fall being pulled from Netflix.
The adult absurdist dark comedy followed Jonathan Fall, who was unknowingly made the sea captain of a smuggling/human trafficking ship.
It boasted an impressive cast with Jason Ritter, Christopher Meloni and Adam Devine all working on the show.
Animated series Farzar took place on the fictional planet Farzar, where the son of the villainous czar Renzo, Prince Fichael, has been placed in charge of the S.H.A.T. Squad.
The team are tasked with leaving the protective dome of their city to protect the populace from the evil Bazarack.
It comes after Agent Elvis, an animated comedy reimagining Elvis Presley as a secret agent and starring Priscilla Presley as herself, decided the show will have only one season
Dana Snyder, Lance Reddick, Kari Wahlgren and David Kaye lead the star-studded voiceover cast.
Meanwhile, Glamorous – which followed Marco Mejia, a young gender non-conforming queer man whose life seemed to be stuck in place until he landed a job working for legendary make-up mogul Madolyn Addison – was also given the chop.
It was Marco’s first chance to figure out what he wanted out of life, who he actually was, and what it really meant for him to be queer.
The series saw the hotly-anticipated return of Kim Cattrall to TV screens as she starred as Glamorous beauty founder Madolyn Addison, alongside Miss Benny as Marco.

Netflix fantasy smash hit Shadow and Bone, based on the books of the same name, has ceased production after its second season will be its last
Not only did Shadow and Bone already have two seasons, but it had a planned spin-off, making its cancellation even more painful.
Six Of Crows, the spin-off, even had its script ready to go.
Shadow and Bone follows Alina, an unassuming mapmaker who discovers she has the power to summon light and is her country Ravka’s first Sun Summoner.
She quickly learns she could help destroy The Fold, which has split Ravka in two for centuries, and it is up to her to master her powers so that she can save her country from its foes.
The series starred Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, Freddy Carter and Amita Suman.
